More Sydney!

Other things we did whilst in Sydney…

Went to Manly. Had a walk along the front and Daisy spotted our first Pelican!
We watched the kids come straight from school in their uniforms onto the beach and play on the beach and sea (in their uniforms!!)

At our house there were 2 lorikeets which came to visit twice a day for cut up apple.

They were very colourful and really tame. If you didn’t come out straight away, they sat on the pool gate and squawked until you did!

Went to the Sydney Aquarium. But first, we took advantage of the lovely, sunshine and had a walk around the lovely Darling Harbour and Cockle Bay. There was a little train on wheels which toured around the harbour and because Daisy was desperate to go on it we had a little ride on it.

We went to the National Maritime Museum which was free and was really interesting, telling the history of the first settlers, etc.

The Aquarium was really good and we saw allsorts of weird and wonderful fish, jellyfish, etc. The highlights of the aquarium was seeing sharks and dugongs. Dugongs are otherwise known as sea cows and are really big, cute and spend all their time eating a special type of seagrass. They are endangered though because of habitat destruction of seagrass from pollution, etc. In the aquarium they spent all the time floating on the bottom of the big tank eating lettuce!

The sharks looked very fearsome and we spent a very long, hilarious time trying to get a family photo, on the timer on the camera with a shark in the background.

We either got half a shark or no shark at all!

We also rode on the monorail, which is an electrical train system elevated above the city.

Daisy loved it, but it didn’t go all around the city just in a small loop so we couldn’t use it for getting between long distances.

Moreton Bay bugs (only found around Moreton Bay!)
We visited the Sydney Fish Market which sold all types of weird and wonderful fish.

We ate there, buying some seafood, etc and eating outside amongst the pigeons and Ibis birds, alongside the marina.

Ibis bird not unlike our pigeons – always there when food around!
