Tuesday 12th April, 2011 - Here we go......

The time has finally come after months of deliberation and planning and off we go after a very stressful final preparation!

Mum and Dad helped clean the house and wash the bedding ready for the house swappers - then the washing machine decided very timely to pack in so in the end we had to leave everything that needed to be washed for them to sort! The hours just dissolved so quickly despite all the planning and getting up at 7am !

We said our goodbyes then Dad came with us in my car to Manchester airport so that he could drive it back. The traffic in Glossop was extremely busy for the time of day so more clock watching even though we had left plenty of time to get there. We unloaded the luggage which we realised was far too much but we would just have to manage carrying it from place to place (or rather Richard would)! We said goodbye to Dad and set off on our travels. Even though it was quite an emotional goodbye, we were soon laughing again crossing the road to the departure section as Dad stopped to let us cross and promptly stalled the car! (he is used to an automatic!)

We had a couple of hours before our flight to Heathrow, but on checking in had to do a bit of teaming and ladling in order to meet the 23K requirements for the bags!

The flight to Heathrow was smooth and took about 1 hour, the free drinks were a novelty for the kids after only being used to paying for everything on Ryan Air, and a celebratory G n' T was in order for us two!

All the children were extremely excited once we got to Heathrow, especially Daisy. She was most looking forward to having "a cushion and a TV screen on the plane!" We boarded the Quantas plane and waiting on the seat was the cushion and yes there was a TV screen!

The journey begins.....
